Flow

Flow You said you were leaving a long time ago You said to keep goin’, continue the flow But now the confusion is setting in We don’t know where to begin I still don’t know, now that it’s so I still don’t know, now that it’s so Beautiful sound washed over me Rhythmic waves, close your eyes to see Some may say you gotta let go But when the tide comes you go with the flow I still don’t know, now that it’s so I still don’t know, now that it’s so We may never find another you At least we came to see it on through Miles away no time to roll You said you were leavin’ but I still don’t know I still don’t know, now that it’s so I still don’t know I still don’t know, now that it’s so Copyright Sean McGinity

Stressed

Things have been crazy. Without getting into great detail, suffice to say that the last 6 months have been a roller coaster of emotions. Changes upon changes within the world itself, peppered with changes within our home, with our people and pets... after a certain point, your brain is unable to keep up. In fact, some of the changes I have forgotten have happened. The tidy filing cabinet of my mind, that constantly sorts, prioritizes, updates, moves folders has had jammed drawers, ripped files, and keeps getting stuck. There is so much going on that sometimes when I focus on the outside of our home world, another calamity has struck, another storm, another heat wave, another pompous individual pulling our culture back 20 years, segregation, a change of laws... So I retreat back into the home, into the bubble of our family and remember... oh yeah, that there are so many things here to keep up with. But at least that part is more manageable. Not less stressful because the changes th...

What can I say?

I know some people are expecting me to say something about what happened. And I suppose I could make something up, something flowery and tragic, wax poetic about the good they had brought to the world. It is so easy to dwell on the bad, because there was so much of it, and a significant part of it was directed at me, leaving me wounded and lost for a long time. There was good. Little snippets here and there. When we were able to create magic, we are all so in sync with each other, in the jam space and on the stage. I am going to remember those times. That is all I want to take away from that experience and the fruits of our labour, a cool as hell album that people still listen to, and a handful of the best songs I have ever co-written with anyone.

The Passing of the Guard

Joe Quesada is stepping away from Marvel Comics. For some it is a day of jubilation. The man did a ton for Marvel Comics. But he also did one thing that, at one time, made him the most hated person in comics. For me, at the time, I was very angry. He touched the one thing that was so sacred to me. So let's provide some context. Anyone that knows me knows about my lifelong love of comic books. They might be familiar with my introductions to Spider-Man, my love of Stan Lee and my love of Marvel. My first comic book I truly feel in love with was Spider-Man. Unlike the Batman and Superman comics I was reading, Spider-Man was written for me. He wasn't a billionaire, he wasn't an alien. He was a kid with alot of the same problems many of us had. He was broke, he was a nerd, he was bullied, yet he had these powers that were weird and strange. I really identified with Spider-Man, and Stan Lee's writing really cemented my love of the character. And Steve Ditko, and later Buscem...

Moon Knight broke me

Marvel Studios Moon Knight came out of left field for most people. Everything about the choice struck an odd chord. For me personally, I owned maybe a comic or two, and had him show up in other character's comics from time to time. I knew very little about his history as a character. I likely read something about him way back when during Marvel Comics' run of the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe. And I may have played him as a character in the Marvel Super Heroes Role Playing Game. There was some things going against the character, that may have kept me at bay. I had often heard this was Marvel's Batman. I heard he had multiple personalities. I heard he was incredibly violent. He was an anti-hero. Etcetera , etcetera, etcetera. Some of these had something to do with jumping in on a character that was so incredibly complicated that it would take years to even understand what was going on. I was too late to the party. With Marvel Studios, we are all in on the ground ...
